YOUR STORY MATTERS
Every experience can encourage someone else.
Sweet friend, I want to ask you something and I really want you to sit with it for a moment before you answer.
Have you ever looked at your life — at all the hard things you have been through, all the messy chapters, all the seasons that didn’t go the way you planned — and thought to yourself, “What was the point of all that?”
I think most of us have. I know I have.
We live in a world that loves highlight reels. Everyone’s social media feed is full of beautiful moments and perfectly curated lives, and it is so easy to look at your own story — the unpolished, unfiltered, sometimes painful real version of it — and think it doesn’t measure up. That it isn’t impressive enough. That nobody would want to hear it.
But sweet friend, I need you to hear this today with your whole heart:
Your story matters. Every single chapter of it matters more than you know.
Not just the pretty parts. Not just the victories and the answered prayers and the mountaintop moments. All of it. The valleys too. The detours. The seasons where you cried more than you smiled and wondered if God had forgotten your address. Those chapters — especially those chapters — have the power to change someone’s life. 💜
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Did you catch that? God comforts you so that you can comfort others. Your pain has a purpose. Your hard season has a reason. And that reason — at least in part — is so that one day you can look someone else in the eye who is walking through the same dark valley and say “I’ve been there. And here is what God did.”
That is not a small thing. That is one of the most powerful things one human being can do for another.
Think about the last time someone shared something real with you. Not polished. Not perfect. Just honest and from the heart. Do you remember how it made you feel? How something inside you relaxed just a little because suddenly you didn’t feel so alone? That is what your story does for someone else. Your honesty is someone else’s lifeline. Your survival is someone else’s proof that they can survive too. 🙏🏼
Because your story matters to God — and it matters deeply to them.
There is someone out there right now — maybe someone you know, maybe someone you haven’t met yet — who is walking through the exact valley you already walked through. They are scared and they are tired and they are lying awake at night wondering if anyone has ever felt the way they feel. And they are asking God, “Is there anyone who understands?”
You are the answer to that prayer.
You don’t have to be a pastor or a counselor or a published author to encourage someone with your story. You don’t have to have it all figured out or be on the other side of it completely. You just have to be willing to be real. To open your mouth or pick up your pen and say “Me too. I’ve been there too. And here is what got me through.”
That is why your story matters. That is ministry. That is magic. That is exactly what this broken and beautiful world needs more of. 🌿
So today I want to give you a gentle little nudge — actually, let me be honest, it’s more of a loving push — to stop keeping your story to yourself. Share it with a friend over coffee. Write it in a letter. Post it on social media. Pray about who God wants you to tell. Because I promise you, there is someone in your circle who needs to hear exactly what you have been through and exactly how God showed up for you in the middle of it.
Your story matters and it is not too small. It is not too messy. It is not too ordinary. It is exactly the right story for someone out there who is waiting to hear it.
And the God who walked you through every single chapter of it? He didn’t bring you through all of that just for you. He brought you through it so you could reach back and help bring someone else through too. 💜
Never forget — your story matters and God wrote every word of it on purpose.
Don’t you dare keep it to yourself, sweet friend.
The world needs it. Someone needs it. And God meant every word of it.
I would absolutely love to hear from you in the comments below — has someone else’s story ever encouraged you through a hard season? Or have you ever shared your story and watched it make a difference for someone else? Tell me about it. Your words might be exactly what someone else reading this needs to hear today. 🌸
