THE BLESSING OF STARTING OVER
God is a God of fresh starts.
Sweet friend, can I ask you something I want you to really sit with for a moment?
Have you ever had something end that you didn’t want to end? A job. A relationship. A season of life you loved and thought would last forever. A dream you worked so hard for that just didn’t work out the way you planned.
And there you were — standing in the middle of the rubble of something you loved, wondering how in the world you were supposed to pick yourself up and start all over again.
I have been there. More times than I care to count. And if that is where you are today, I want you to know something from the bottom of my heart — you are not alone, and you are not as lost as you feel right now. 💜
Because here is the truth that changed everything for me:
God is a God of fresh starts.
Not just second chances. Fresh starts. Brand new, wiped clean, full of possibility, I-never-saw-that-coming fresh starts. The kind that take your breath away when you look back and realize He was working the whole entire time.
Think about Moses. He went from prince to fugitive to desert shepherd — and God met him right there in the middle of that starting over and said “I have a plan for you that is bigger than anything you’ve lost.” Think about Ruth, who lost everything and started over in a foreign land, and ended up in the very lineage of Jesus. Think about Peter, who failed so publicly and so painfully — and Jesus looked at him and said “I’m not finished with you yet.”
Friend, that is not a coincidence. That is just who God is.
He doesn’t look at your ended chapter and shake His head in disappointment. He looks at it and says “I’ve got you. And I’ve already written what comes next.” The door that closed wasn’t the only door. The dream that didn’t work out wasn’t your only dream. The season that ended wasn’t your last season.
Starting over isn’t failure dressed up in a painful disguise. Sometimes — most times — it is the most faithful and courageous thing you will ever do. To get back up. To trust again. To believe that the God who brought you this far is not about to drop you now.
“His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:23
Not every year. Not every season. Every single morning. 🌿
And this morning — this beautiful, brand new, full of possibility morning — it belongs to you.
So if you are standing at a new beginning today, scared and unsure and maybe even a little heartbroken, I want you to take a deep breath and whisper this with me:
“God, I don’t know what comes next. But I trust that You do. Lead me forward. I’m ready.” 🙏🏼
Starting over is not the end of your story, sweet friend. Sometimes it is the most sacred and beautiful part. And the God who holds every ending also holds every beginning — including yours.
You are not behind. You are not broken. You are being redirected by a God who loves you far too much to leave you where you were. 💜
I’d love to hear from you in the comments below — has God ever turned one of your endings into a beautiful new beginning? Share it. Someone needs to read your story today. 🌸
