You Woke Up To Another Gift
New mercies were waiting for you the moment your eyes opened this morning, sweet friend, whether you noticed them or not.
Maybe your coffee wasn’t hot enough. Maybe the alarm went off before you were ready. Maybe your to-do list already feels a mile long before you’ve even had breakfast. But underneath all of that noise, something beautiful happened the second you woke up. You were handed a gift.
Today Is Not Just Another Day
It’s easy to let the days blur together, isn’t it? Wake up, rush around, fall into bed, repeat. But today is not just another square on the calendar. It is not just another Wednesday to push through and survive. It is a gift, wrapped in grace, given to you before you even asked for it.
New Mercies, Every Single Morning
There’s a verse I come back to again and again, especially on the mornings that feel heavy before they’ve even begun:
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22-23
New mercies every morning. Not just some mornings. Not just when you feel like you’ve earned them. Every single morning, including this one, including whatever mess or mistake or worry you carried into today. God’s mercy doesn’t wait for you to clean yourself up first. It meets you exactly where you are.
That means whatever happened yesterday, whatever words you wish you hadn’t said, whatever fear kept you tossing and turning last night, none of it gets to define today. You get a fresh start. Right now. This very moment, as you’re reading these words.
Receiving The Gift, Not Just Rushing Past It
Here’s what I’ve been learning, friend: it’s one thing to know today is a gift, and it’s another thing to actually receive it.
So often we rush right past the gift on our way to the next task, the next errand, the next thing on the list. What if today you paused, even for thirty seconds, and actually said thank you? Thank you for the simple miracle of waking up. Thank you for another chance to love the people around you a little better than you did yesterday. Thank you for breath in your lungs and a heartbeat that hasn’t stopped believing in second chances.
You are not just surviving today. You are being given today. There’s a difference, and I have a feeling your heart already knows it.
A Little Something To Carry With You Today
Before you head back out into the busyness of your day, I want you to hear this clearly: you are loved, you are not alone, and this new day was handed to you on purpose.
So today, whatever you’re walking into, walk into it knowing you were given new mercies to meet it with.
