I don’t consider myself getting older, I consider myself getting better.

And the same should be true for you too. If your health is important to you, then you need to work on it, and exercising is key.

For those of you that know me, you can say that’s easy for you Marilyn, you have always been athletic and that is true. I am someone who enjoys working out. But it’s not so much the act of working out, it’s how good I feel afterward.

Because I must tell you, after having triple hip replacements three years ago and gaining thirty pounds, I felt like a blob. Once I did start working out it was minimal, and I used the excuse of at least I’m working out. But I knew I needed to start pushing myself, so I joined a gym. I know even though cardio is my favorite exercise, I needed to do weightlifting too.

At 62, I can honestly say I feel better now than I have in years. Don’t let your age be what stops you from exercising. Or embarrassment of how you look today, compared to what you did when you were 20 years old. NO ONE looks like they did when they were 20.

Remember the woman I told you about a couple of weeks ago who dances on the treadmill? I spoke to her the other day and told her how much I enjoy watching her. She laughed and said dancing and listening to music while she works out is the only way she can do it because she hates working out.

Be like her, if you don’t like working out, find a way to motivate yourself. Listen to music or watch movies, find a workout buddy, or hire a trainer.

Most importantly, love who you are now and take care of yourself starting today. Because you’re worth it!
