Sometimes I Wonder How Many Times God Has Made Us Smile Through Another Person

Have you ever stopped to think about God working through people in the smallest, sweetest moments of your day? Sweet friend, pull up a chair and let’s talk about something that has been tugging at my heart. ☕

God Working Through People: The Smile You Didn’t See Coming

Think back to a day when everything felt heavy. Maybe the to-do list was long, your heart was tired, and you were simply getting through. Then someone smiled at you. A cashier said something kind. A neighbor waved. A friend sent a message that said, “Just thinking of you.”

And something inside you softened.

You may have called it a nice coincidence. But I wonder. I truly wonder how many times God has used another person to lift your spirits, and neither of you realized He had anything to do with it. God working through people doesn’t always come with thunder and trumpets. Most often, it arrives quietly, wrapped in an ordinary moment.

God Working Through People Looks Like Ordinary Kindness

Here’s what I love most about this: God doesn’t need a stage. He uses a warm hello in the grocery store, a casserole left on a porch, or a phone call that comes at exactly the right time.

Scripture says, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2) Isn’t that something? Heaven’s help can show up in the most everyday packaging. The people crossing your path aren’t accidents. They are part of a bigger, gentler plan to remind you that you are never alone.

God Working Through People Goes Both Ways

Now here’s the part that makes my heart so full. If God can smile at you through someone else, then He can smile at someone else through you.

Think about that for a moment. Your smile, your encouraging text, your patience with the slow driver in front of you, your kind word to a tired waitress could be exactly what someone else has been praying for. And you may never know it. You don’t have to. You just have to say yes to a small act of love, and God handles the rest.

You don’t need to be perfect, polished, or have the perfect words. You just need a willing heart.

How to Notice God Working Through People Today

I’d love for you to try something with me today, sweet friend. Slow down just a little and look for the little blessings.

When you start looking, you’ll be amazed at how much you find. Gratitude opens our eyes to what was there all along.

Let God Keep Working Through People, Including You

Life is such a gift, and we weren’t made to walk through it alone. God knew that, so He placed people around us to love us, encourage us, and make us laugh when we need it most.

So today, I pray you feel seen. I pray you spot God’s fingerprints in the faces around you. And I pray you find the courage to be someone’s reason to smile, even if you never find out about it this side of heaven. 💜

Now I’d love to hear from you. Who made you smile recently without even knowing it? Share in the comments below, and let’s celebrate them together!
