I Hope You Never Lose the Ability to Be Amazed by Life
Sweet friend, I hope you never lose the ability to be amazed by life. Somewhere between the to-do lists, the bills, and the busy days, it’s so easy to forget that we’re living inside a miracle. But the wonder is still there, waiting for you, in the smallest and most ordinary places.
Why Staying Amazed by Life Matters More Than You Think
When you were a child, everything was amazing. A ladybug on your finger could stop you in your tracks. A puddle was an adventure. A rainbow felt like a personal message from heaven, and maybe it was.
Somewhere along the way, we learn to hurry. We stop looking up. We stop asking “how does that even happen?” But being amazed by life isn’t childish, sweet friend. It’s a form of gratitude. It’s a way of saying, “Thank you, God, for noticing me enough to give me this.”
The Bible says, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). Not a perfect day. Not an easy day. This day. Today is a gift, and you were meant to open it with wonder.
How a Tiny Seed Reminds Us to Stay Amazed by Life
Have you ever really thought about a seed? It’s small, plain, and easy to overlook. Yet tucked inside it is everything needed to become a sunflower taller than you, with a face as golden as sunshine.
Nobody sees the work happening underground. The seed simply trusts the soil, the rain, and the light. Then one morning, there’s a tiny green sprout, and your heart does a little happy dance.
Maybe you’re in a “seed season” right now, sweet friend, where it feels like nothing is happening. I want you to know that God is working beneath the surface. Stay amazed by life, even in the waiting. Your bloom is coming.
Let a Song Keep You Amazed by Life and Bring the Memories Back
Isn’t it something how a few notes can carry you across decades? You hear a song, and suddenly you’re riding in the front seat with the windows down, or dancing in the kitchen, or sitting beside someone who is no longer here.
That’s a gift. Our hearts hold on to love in ways we don’t even realize. A song doesn’t just bring back a memory; it brings back the feeling of being loved, of being young, of being home.
The next time a song stops you in your tracks, don’t rush past it. Close your eyes and let yourself be amazed by life, by the way God made your heart able to hold so much. As Psalm 139:14 reminds us, we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.”
One Unexpected Conversation Can Make You Amazed by Life Again
Some of the most beautiful turning points happen when you’re not expecting them. A chat in the grocery line. A message from an old friend. A stranger who says just the right words on just the right day.
I truly believe those moments aren’t accidents. Sometimes God sends an angel in the form of a neighbor, and sometimes in the form of a kind voice on the other end of the phone. A single conversation can change the way you see everything: your situation, your worth, your future.
So say yes to the chat. Make the call. Leave the encouraging comment. You never know whose day you might turn around, or whose words might turn yours.
5 Simple Ways to Stay Amazed by Life Every Day
If you’d like to keep that sense of wonder alive, here are a few gentle ways to begin:
- Take a “wonder walk.” Step outside for ten minutes with no phone and look for something you’ve never noticed before.
- Name three small blessings. Say them out loud at breakfast or bedtime.
- Plant something. A seed, a bulb, a little pot of herbs on the windowsill.
- Play a song you love. Let yourself feel it fully.
- Reach out to someone. One kind conversation can ripple farther than you’ll ever know.
Stay Amazed by Life, Sweet Friend
You are not too old, too tired, or too busy to be amazed by life. The chickadee is still singing. The sunflowers are still turning toward the light. The butterfly is still floating past, reminding you that change can be beautiful.
You are loved. You are never alone. And life is such a gift.
