A Heart That Notices the Good: 5 Beautiful Wishes for You

A heart that notices the good is something I wish for you today, sweet friend, and I’d love to sit down and share why. Grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea, get comfy, and let’s talk for a little while, just the two of us. 💜

Some days are full of obvious blessings. Others feel so ordinary you could almost miss them. The dishes pile up, the to-do list grows, and nothing particularly wonderful seems to happen. Those are the days I want to talk to you about today.

Why a Heart That Notices the Good Changes Everything

Here’s something I’ve learned over the years: the good was there all along. We just weren’t looking at it. When we’re tired, worried, or carrying more than we should, our eyes naturally go to what’s wrong, what’s missing, and what still needs fixing.

A heart that notices the good doesn’t ignore the hard things. It simply makes room for the blessings sitting right beside them. It sees the sunrise and the sore feet. It feels the weight of the day and the gift of the hand holding yours. When you practice looking for the good, you start finding it everywhere, and your whole day begins to feel lighter.

The Bible gives us a beautiful invitation to do exactly this: “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24) Notice that it says this day, not a perfect day, not a better day, but this one.

A Heart That Notices the Good Finds Courage to Enjoy What You Have

Enjoying what you have takes courage, and I don’t think we talk about that enough. It can feel risky to be content. Maybe you worry that being happy now means you’ve stopped hoping for more. Or maybe you’ve been hurt before, and it feels safer to keep your guard up.

But dear friend, you’re allowed to enjoy your life while you’re still growing, healing, and waiting. You can love your little home, even if it needs a few repairs. You can treasure your family, even if they drive you a little crazy. You can savor a quiet morning, even while you’re praying for a big change.

Gratitude and hope aren’t opposites. They are the best of friends. Enjoying today doesn’t mean you’ve given up on tomorrow. It means you trust God with both.

A Heart That Notices the Good Treasures People Who Make You Laugh

Can we talk about laughter for a minute? 😊

Some people just have a way of lifting your spirit. They tell the silly story, share the inside joke, or giggle with you until your sides hurt. Those people are a gift, and I truly believe God places them in our lives on purpose.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine,” says Proverbs 17:22, and I couldn’t agree more. A good laugh can soften a hard day, and a friend who makes you laugh is worth holding onto.

So today, take a moment to notice who makes your heart feel lighter. Send them a message. Tell them thank you. And if you haven’t laughed in a while, give yourself permission to find something funny. Life is a gift, and it’s meant to be enjoyed with joy.

A Heart That Notices the Good Thanks God on the Ordinary Days

This is the part that is closest to my heart. It’s easy to thank God for the big moments: the answered prayer, the healing, the celebration. But what about the Tuesday afternoons? The grocery runs? The days when nothing special happens at all?

I’ve come to believe that the ordinary days are where God does some of His most faithful work. He’s in the steady paycheck, the safe drive home, the meal on the table, and the breath in your lungs. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

When you thank Him on an ordinary day, you’re telling Him, “I see You here, too.” And that kind of faith, quiet and steady and grateful, is beautiful in His eyes.

How to Grow a Heart That Notices the Good Today

You don’t have to change your whole life to build a heart that notices the good. Just try one of these small habits today:

Little by little, your eyes will learn to find the good, and your heart will follow.

Sweet friend, you are so loved. You are never alone. And there is more good in your day than you can see right now. I’m wishing you courage, laughter, and faith today, and every ordinary day after. 💜

Now I’d love to hear from you: what is one good thing you noticed today? Share it in the comments so we can celebrate together! 🦋
