Don’t Be So Quick to Complain About Little Interruptions
Have you ever felt your whole day get knocked off course by little interruptions you never saw coming? Pull up a chair, sweet friend, and let’s sit down together with a warm cup of coffee, because I think God has something sweet to tell you today.
Why Little Interruptions Feel So Frustrating
You had a plan. Maybe it was a quiet morning, a long to-do list, or finally getting to that one thing you’ve been putting off for weeks. And then the phone rang. Or someone needed a favor. Or the day simply took a turn you didn’t choose.
I understand that feeling of sighing and thinking, “Not now.” We live in a busy world, and it’s natural to want to protect our time. But when every interruption feels like an enemy, we can miss the gentle ways God is moving in our days.
When Little Interruptions Become Little Miracles
Think back over your life for a moment. Some of your most treasured memories probably didn’t arrive on a schedule. They showed up uninvited. A late-night call from a friend who needed to hear your voice. A neighbor who stopped by right when you were about to leave. A conversation that stretched on much longer than you planned.
Sometimes the phone call that ruined your plans becomes the conversation you’ll remember for the rest of your life. You may never know what that interruption protected you from, or what it opened the door to. A delay might keep you safe. A visitor might be an answer to someone’s prayer, and you might be the answer.
God Is in the Little Interruptions
Scripture reminds us, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps” (Proverbs 16:9, KJV). We make our plans, and that’s okay. But God holds the bigger picture, and He is never surprised by your Tuesday afternoon.
When your day gets rearranged, it doesn’t mean you’re behind. It may mean you’re being led. Those detours may be His way of placing you right where someone needs a kind word, a listening ear, or simply your presence.
3 Ways to Welcome Little Interruptions With a Grateful Heart
If you’d like to meet your next interruption with peace instead of pressure, here are three gentle things you can try:
- Pause and breathe. Before you react, take one slow breath. Let your shoulders relax. That tiny pause can change the tone of your whole moment.
- Pray a short prayer. Simply say, “Lord, what are You doing here?” You don’t need fancy words. He hears your heart.
- Be fully present. Put the phone down, look the person in the eye, and really listen. Presence is one of the greatest gifts you can give.
A Gentle Reminder for Your Day
Today, when something pulls you away from your plans, I hope you’ll smile instead of sigh. Pour another cup of coffee, settle in, and see what blessing might be waiting inside the moment.
You are loved. You are guided. And you are never wasting time when you spend it caring for someone or being open to what God has for you. Life is such a gift, sweet friend, and the little interruptions might just be the wrapping paper. 🎁
