If You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You

If you feel like everyone else is ahead of you, sweet friend, I want you to take a deep breath and stay right here with me for a few minutes.

Because I think you need to hear something today. Something that might change the way you see yourself and the beautiful life you are living right now.

You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You Because You Are Only Seeing Part of the Story

You’ve been scrolling again. Maybe it was first thing this morning with your coffee. Maybe it was late last night when the house got quiet and you couldn’t sleep.

And somewhere between the vacation photos and the beautifully decorated living rooms and the smiling families, that whisper started again.

Everyone else has it figured out. Everyone except me.

She’s traveling the world. She’s building a successful business. Her house looks like it belongs in a magazine. Her kids are thriving. Her marriage looks easy. Her smile looks effortless.

And you’re standing in your kitchen, staring into the refrigerator, trying to figure out what you’re making for dinner. Again.

Sweet friend, can I be honest with you?

You are looking at tiny, carefully chosen snapshots of somebody else’s life and comparing them to the full, unedited, behind-the-scenes version of yours. And that was never a fair comparison. Not even close.

When You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You, Remember That God Gave You Your Own Story

Here is the part that changes everything when you let it sink in.

God did not ask you to live her story. He asked you to live yours.

He did not hand you her timeline. He did not give you her path. He did not promise you that your blessings would look like hers, arrive when hers did, or come wrapped in the same paper.

He gave you your story. Your journey. Your lessons. Your timing.

And your timing is not wrong just because it looks different.

The woman who seems to have it all together? She has her own battles she fights when nobody is watching. Her own tears she cries when the phone is put away and the camera is off. Her own quiet moments of wondering if she is enough.

You are not seeing her whole story. You are seeing the chapter she chose to share.

“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.” Galatians 6:4-5 NIV{rel=”dofollow”}

You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You, But Different Does Not Mean Less

Your blessings may not look like hers. Your home may not look like the ones on Pinterest. Your career path may not follow the straight line you thought it would. Your family may not match the picture you imagined when you were younger.

And none of that means you have less.

It means you have different. And different is exactly what God designed for you.

The garden He is growing in your life does not bloom on someone else’s schedule. Some flowers take longer to open, and those are often the ones that take your breath away when they finally do.

Your lessons are teaching you things her lessons could never teach her. Your hard seasons are building something in you that her easy seasons could never build in her. Your path is leading you somewhere that only your feet were meant to walk.

Different does not mean less. It means yours.

When You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You, Stop Trying to Catch Up and Start Looking Around

You do not need to catch up with anyone.

Read that again, sweet friend. Slowly.

You do not need to catch up with anyone.

You need to pay attention to the life God is building right where you are. Not the life He is building for her. Not the life that looks so glamorous through a screen. The life that is happening in your own home, in your own family, in your own heart.

The dinner you are making tonight? That is love on a plate for the people God gave you. The job you show up to every day even when it is hard? That is faithfulness. The prayers you whisper when nobody else is listening? Those are reaching heaven.

Your ordinary, unfiltered, imperfect life is full of more beauty than you are giving it credit for.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV{rel=”dofollow”}

He prepared your good works. Not hers. Yours.

You Feel Like Everyone Else Is Ahead of You, But You Are Right on Time

So tonight, when you find yourself back in that kitchen, I want you to pause for just a moment.

Look around. Really look.

At the roof over your head. At the people who call your name. At the air filling your lungs and the heartbeat steady in your chest. At the life that God, in all His wisdom, trusted you with.

That is not a life that fell behind. That is a life that is unfolding exactly the way it was meant to.

You are not behind. You are simply living a story that was never supposed to look like anyone else’s.

And sweet friend, your story is beautiful. Even the chapters that feel slow. Even the pages smudged with tears. Even the parts you would rather skip over.

Every single piece of it matters. And God is not finished writing it yet.

“You aren’t behind. You’re simply living a story that was never supposed to look like anyone else’s.”

What is one thing in your life right now that you are grateful for, even if it feels small? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
