The Coffee Got Cold Again

Finding God in ordinary days doesn’t usually start with a sunrise and a worship song — sometimes it starts with a cup of coffee you forgot about. Again.

You poured it with every intention of sitting down and enjoying it. Maybe even having a quiet moment. But then the dog needed out, your phone buzzed, the laundry screamed your name from the dryer where it’s been sitting long enough to officially qualify as furniture — and just like that, the coffee went cold.

Welcome to Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or whatever day it is because honestly, they all kind of blur together sometimes, don’t they?

And yet… here you are. You showed up for another day. You got out of bed. You made the coffee even if you never got to drink it hot. You tried.

Sweet friend, that matters more than you think.

Finding God in Ordinary Days Means Looking at the Mess Differently

We spend so much of our lives waiting for the beautiful moments. The big ones. The “everything finally came together” days where the house is clean, the calendar is clear, and we feel like we actually have our lives figured out.

But can I tell you something? Those days are rare. And if we spend all our time waiting for them, we’ll miss the thousands of ordinary, imperfect, absolutely beautiful ones sitting right in front of us.

That messy kitchen you keep staring at? It means somebody ate there. Somebody you love sat down at that table and was nourished.

That mountain of laundry? It means your people have clothes to wear and a home to come back to.

That phone ringing right when you finally sat down? It means someone in this world thought of you. Someone wanted to hear your voice.

And that reheated cup of coffee — the one you’re warming up for the third time today?

It means God gave you another morning to enjoy it.

Your Imperfect Life Is Full of God in Ordinary Days

We get so caught up in what our lives are supposed to look like that we forget to thank God for what they already are.

You scroll through someone else’s highlight reel and think, Why can’t my life look like that?

But here’s the truth nobody posts about: behind every perfect photo is a pile of laundry, a sink full of dishes, a forgotten cup of coffee, and a woman who also walked into a room and forgot why she was there.

You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re not the only one holding it all together with coffee and prayers.

You’re human. And your humanness is not a flaw — it’s the very thing God loves about you.

He didn’t design you to be perfect. He designed you to be His.

📖 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24 (ESV){rel=”dofollow”}

Read that one more time, sweet friend.

This is THE day. Not the perfect day. Not the productive day. Not the “everything went according to plan” day.

This day. The one with cold coffee and forgotten laundry and a to-do list that laughed at you by noon.

This is the day the Lord made. And He’s asking you to find joy in it — right here, right now, mess and all.

Finding God in Ordinary Days Is a Choice You Make Right Now

So what would it look like if you stopped waiting for the beautiful day and started seeing the beauty in this one?

What if you looked at that cold cup of coffee and smiled — because it means you were busy living?

What if you looked at the chaos around you and whispered, Thank You, God, for all of this. Every bit of it.

Because here’s what I know for sure:

Your life doesn’t have to look beautiful to contain beautiful things.

The blessings aren’t hiding in some future season when you finally have it all figured out. They’re here. Right now. In the mess. In the ordinary. In the Tuesday afternoon that doesn’t feel special but absolutely is — because you’re alive, you’re loved, and God is in every single detail.

“Sometimes the blessing is hiding right there in the mess.”

Finding God in Ordinary Days Starts with One Simple Step

Today, I want to challenge you to do one thing:

Stop. Look around. And instead of seeing everything that’s undone, unfinished, or imperfect — choose to see what’s already there.

The people. The breath in your lungs. The roof over your head. The cold coffee that proves you had a morning worth being distracted by.

God is in all of it, sweet friend. Every single bit.

And if nobody has told you this today — you are doing so much better than you think you are.

Now go reheat that coffee. You’ve earned it. ☕💜
