I Hope Something Makes You Laugh Today

If there’s one thing I want you to remember today, sweet friend, it’s that laughter is good medicine — and you don’t need a prescription to take it.

Not every message I share has to be serious. Not every word has to make you stop and think or bring tears to your eyes. Sometimes I just want to show up in your day and remind you of something beautifully simple:

God gave you laughter, too.

And He didn’t give it to you by accident.

Why Laughter Is Good Medicine for Your Soul

You know the kind of laughter I’m talking about.

The kind where you laugh so hard you snort — and then you laugh even harder because you snorted. The kind where you and your best friend are gasping for air and neither one of you can even remember what started it. The kind where you finally pull yourself together, lock eyes with each other… and immediately lose it all over again.

That kind of laughter doesn’t just feel good. It heals something deep inside of you.

The Bible tells us exactly that:

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”Proverbs 17:22 (NIV){rel=”dofollow”}

God already knew what science would spend years trying to prove — that joy restores you from the inside out. A good, deep, belly-shaking laugh doesn’t just change your mood. It changes your whole body. It releases tension you didn’t even know you were carrying. It loosens the grip that stress has been holding on your shoulders all week.

Laughter is good medicine, and your soul has been needing a dose of it.

You Have Permission to Enjoy the Silly Moments

Here’s where I need you to really hear me.

Life gives you enough serious moments. Enough heavy conversations. Enough late nights staring at the ceiling wondering how everything is going to work out. Enough mornings where you wake up and the weight of the world is already sitting on your chest before your feet even hit the floor.

You carry so much, sweet friend. And I see you doing it with grace, even when you don’t feel graceful at all.

But somewhere along the way, I think you started believing that joy has to be earned. That you need to finish the hard stuff first before you’re allowed to enjoy the light stuff. That laughing feels selfish when there’s still so much to worry about.

Can I lovingly tell you that’s a lie?

Joy doesn’t need a reason. Laughter doesn’t need permission. You don’t have to wait until everything in your life is perfect to let yourself smile so wide your cheeks hurt.

God never said, “Handle all your problems first, and then I’ll let you feel happy.”

He said a cheerful heart is good medicine. Not a reward — medicine. Something you need especially when life is hard.

Laughter Is Good Medicine — Even When Life Is Heavy

I think sometimes we forget that joy and struggle can exist in the same moment.

You can be going through a difficult season and still laugh at something your kid says at dinner. You can be carrying a heavy burden and still giggle at a video your friend sends you at 10 p.m. You can be worried about tomorrow and still find yourself doubled over laughing about something completely ridiculous today.

That doesn’t make you careless. That makes you human.

And more than that — it makes you resilient.

The Bible is full of reminders that joy isn’t just for the good days. It’s a strength that carries you through the hard ones.

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV){rel=”dofollow”}

Joy doesn’t mean you’re ignoring your problems. It means you’re choosing not to let them steal the beautiful moments God keeps tucking into your days — even the messy, chaotic, imperfect ones.

Let God Surprise You with a Little Bit of Magic

So here’s what I’m hoping for you today, sweet friend.

I hope something catches you completely off guard. Something so unexpected and ridiculous that you laugh until your stomach hurts and your eyes water and you can barely catch your breath.

Maybe it’s something your dog does. Maybe it’s a text from your best friend. Maybe it’s your own reflection in the mirror when you realize you’ve been walking around with toothpaste on your shirt all morning.

Whatever it is — let yourself enjoy it.

Don’t cut the laugh short. Don’t talk yourself out of the joy. Don’t tell yourself you don’t have time for silliness.

You do. You always do.

And when that moment comes — when you’re wiping tears from your eyes and holding your side and trying to remember how to breathe — thank God for that little bit of magic.

Because that’s exactly what it is. A gift from a Father who loves seeing His daughter smile.

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”Job 8:21 (NIV){rel=”dofollow”}

Remember This When Laughter Is Good Medicine for Your Heart

Joy doesn’t have to accomplish anything. It doesn’t have to be productive. It doesn’t need to teach a lesson or prove a point.

Sometimes you’re simply allowed to enjoy being alive.

So go find your laugh today, sweet friend. The deep, healing, snorting, can’t-catch-your-breath kind.

You deserve it. And God wants it for you.

💛 “Never get so busy surviving life that you forget to laugh your way through some of it.”

💬 Now I’d love to hear from you — when was the last time you laughed so hard you couldn’t stop? Tell me about it in the comments. I could use a good laugh today, too! 😂💜
