God Is Still Working Behind The Scenes

Even when we can’t see movement, God is still working.

Have you ever been in one of those seasons where everything just feels… still?

You’ve prayed. You’ve cried. You’ve laid it all at His feet more times than you can count. You’ve whispered the same prayer in the dark at 2 o’clock in the morning, hoping this time something shifts. And yet — the situation looks exactly the same as it did yesterday. And the day before that. And the week before that.

Sweet friend, I know that feeling. And if you’re sitting in that quiet place right now, I just want you to pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of something warm, and stay with me for a few minutes today. Because I have something I really need you to hear.

God is still working.

Not was working. Not will eventually work. Is. Right now. This very moment. Even in the silence.

When the Silence Feels Like an Answer

One of the hardest things about faith is learning to trust what we cannot see. We live in a world that is all about proof. Show me the results. Show me the progress. Show me the numbers. If I can’t measure it, did it even happen?

But God doesn’t work on our timeline, does He? And He certainly doesn’t feel the need to send us a progress report.

I think about a seed planted deep in the ground. If you dug it up every single day to check on it, you’d never see it grow. Growth happens in the dark, in the quiet, in the waiting. And one day — one ordinary Tuesday morning — you walk outside and there it is. A tiny green shoot pushing up through the soil like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

That’s how God works, sweet friend. Quietly. Faithfully. Behind the scenes.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

You Are Not Forgotten

Can I be really honest with you for a second?

Sometimes in the waiting, the enemy whispers the cruelest little lie. He leans in close and says, “See? Nothing is happening. You’ve been forgotten. Your prayers aren’t reaching anyone. You’re on your own.”

And if we’re not careful, we start to believe him.

But that is a lie straight from the pit, sweet friend. A flat-out, no-good, not-even-close-to-the-truth lie.

You have never — not for a single breath, not for one heartbeat — been forgotten by the God who created you. The same God who counts every hair on your head, who catches every tear you cry, who knew your name before you were even born — that God has not taken His eyes off of you.

He sees you in your waiting room. He sees you in your quiet moments of doubt. He sees you reading these very words right now, and He wants you to know — I’ve got this. I’ve got you. Keep trusting Me.

“He will not let your foot slip — He who watches over you will not slumber.” — Psalm 121:3

The Butterfly Doesn’t Know

I read something once that stopped me in my tracks and I’ve never been able to forget it.

When a caterpillar goes into its cocoon, something remarkable happens inside. The caterpillar essentially dissolves — it breaks down almost completely before it begins to reform into the butterfly. From the outside, it looks like absolutely nothing is happening. Just a small, still cocoon hanging from a branch.

But inside? Everything is changing.

Sweet friend, I wonder sometimes if that’s exactly where some of us are right now. In the cocoon. From the outside it might look like nothing is happening in your life — like you’re stuck, like you’re waiting, like everyone else is moving forward and you’ve been left behind.

But what if God is doing the most transformative work of your life right now, right there in the quiet? What if the stillness isn’t abandonment — what if it’s preparation?

What if the cocoon is exactly where you’re supposed to be?

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” — Isaiah 40:31

What To Do While You Wait

I’m not going to tell you the waiting is easy. It isn’t. Some days it is downright hard and exhausting and you just want to see something move.

But here’s what I’ve learned, sweet friend — the waiting season is never wasted when you’re in God’s hands. Here are a few things that have helped me stay grounded when I couldn’t see what He was doing:

Pray with expectation, not desperation. There’s a difference between praying like someone who is afraid and praying like someone who actually believes God is listening. Try shifting your prayer from “please do something” to “thank you that you already are.”

Write it down. Keep a little journal of your prayers and the moments — even the tiny ones — where you feel God nudging you. When you look back on it months from now, you will be amazed at how clearly you can see His hand moving through the pages.

Stay close to people who fill your faith. Surround yourself with people who will remind you of the truth when the enemy is whispering lies. Community matters so much in the waiting season.

Rest in His character, not just His promises. Even when we don’t understand what He’s doing, we can trust who He is. Faithful. Good. Loving. Sovereign. That never changes, no matter what our circumstances look like.

A Little Reminder For Your Heart Today

Sweet friend, wherever you are today — whether you’re in the middle of a storm, sitting in the quiet of a long wait, or just needing a little reminder that you’re not alone — I want you to hold onto this:

God is not done with your story.

The chapter you’re in right now is not the last one. The silence is not the ending. The waiting room is not your permanent address. He is working — behind the scenes, in the quiet, in the places you can’t see — and when the time is right, you are going to look back at this season and see His fingerprints all over it.

Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep believing.

He’s got you, sweet friend. He always has. 💛
